This bronze follis from the mid-4th century AD features Constantius Gallus, the Caesar who ruled with Constantine the Great. Dated 351–354 AD, it reflects the House of Constantine’s efforts to restore the empire’s fortunes during a period of reform and upheaval.
Obverse shows a bare-headed bust of Constantius Gallus. The reverse bears the Fallen Horseman motif, a dramatic FEL TEMP REPARATIO scene of a legionary dispatching a barbarian foe.
