This is an ancient Illyrian silver drachm struck in the Greek colony of Dyrrhachion (modern-day Durrës, Albania), dating to the late 1st century BC. It reflects the island and coastal trading culture of the region during a turbulent period of tribal and city-state rivalries.
Obverse: An eagle above the name of the magistrate, with a cow standing right and its head turned left toward a suckling calf; a hound runs right at the base.
Reverse: A circular legend surrounding a distinctive double-stellate pattern, a common motif on Dyrrhachion issues.
- Country: Illyria (Dyrrhachion)
- Year: 80–55 BC
- Denomination: Drachm
- Composition: Silver
- Size: 17.5 mm diameter
- Weight: 3.2 g
