This commemorative medalet was issued for the New Zealand International Exhibition of Arts and Industries, held in Hagley Park, Christchurch, from November 1906 to April 1907. It served as a popular memento of the "Garden City’s" largest ever public event, celebrating New Zealand’s industrial progress and burgeoning national identity at the turn of the century.
Obverse features the Exhibition building with N.Z.I. EXHIBITION above and 1906-7 CHRISTCHURCH below; the reverse shows a kiwi encircled by KIORA & HAEREMAI KIWI.
