Recovered from the wreck of the British East India Company's Admiral Gardner. The ship was bound for India when it sank in 1809, and wasn't rediscovered until 1984.
Obverse: Classic East India Company style with period lettering and device typical of early 1800s issues; overall strikes remain clear for the type. Reverse: Denomination and date details are legible within the central design, surrounded by the usual legends found on Company copper coinage.
